Norway Importer of Record and IT Shipping

Norway Importer of Record providers need to navigate a more complex shipping process and complete standard shipping paperwork.

Norway Importer of Record at a Glance:

Importer of Record

  • Norway’s customs process does not require special permits for telecommunications equipment
  • Norway is a country where FGX often has our clients act as the Importer of Record, if they’re eligible to do so

IT Shipping & Logistics

  • Shipping and air freight can be scarce, which may add additional cost or time to your timeline

Importer of Record and Pre-Shipment Documentation

Norway doesn’t require any special permits or licenses for most IT imports. Your Importer of Record provider should provide customs with all the required documentation, e.g. bill of lading, commercial invoices, etc. The only information you will need in addition to standard documentation is proof of the product’s proper valuations.

Since Norway is not in the EU, you cannot use your EU registrations to act as your own Importer of Record. However, if you are eligible to act as your own Importer of Record in Norway, FGX can help you navigate the Importer of Record process.

IT Shipping & Logistics

While the shipping and logistics process in Norway is not particularly complex, the process tends to be more expensive. Norway’s remote location means there are a limited number of logistics and freight providers which can result in higher costs. Hiring FGX as a door-to-data center service can help you avoid unnecessary overhead costs. By bundling the process from beginning to end, you can avoid accruing these costs repeatedly at each stage.

Lastly, last-mile delivery can add up to a week to your shipping timeline. While shipping within Oslo takes as little as a day, shipping to more remote locations requires more preparation for securing carriers and navigating the landscape and it may take up to a week.

FGX manages all of our client’s shipments door-to-door (or door-to-datacenter). This case study showcases how we navigated IT logistics and importation into Norway at the time that it was written. Regulations and challenges are constantly changing and exact shipping requirements may have changed. To learn more about FGX and how our global shipping platform can help your company, reach out here.
