Myanmar Importer of Record and IT Shipping

IT shipments into Myanmar will need a diligent Importer of Record who can navigate complex customs and air freight requirements.

Myanmar Importer of Record At a Glance:

Importer of Record

  • FGX can provide a reliable importer of record service in addition to any other telecommunications permits or import licensing requirements for customs clearance
  • Detailed product data sheets, user manuals, and other supporting documentation may be required for customs clearance

Shipping

  • Myanmar has a limited number of inbound international wide-body flights, so additional time should be allocated for transport

Importer of Record and Pre-Shipment Documentation

Importer of Record

While FGX helps our clients act as the importer of record themselves, it is rare that our clients are able to act as their own Importer of Record in Myanmar. Myanmar is not a location where companies shipping internationally typically have a business entity authorized to import, which means that they will need to utilize FGX’s Importer of Record services.

Documentation Requirements

All shipments to Myanmar must have an import license and certain equipment will need a telecommunications permit. Import licenses can be completed by FGX with little end-user involvement and they typically take a week to secure.

Certain equipment will require telecommunications permits. FGX, acting as your supply chain provider, can help you identify which products will need telecommunications products and help you secure the permits. This process typically takes two weeks, however, it is not unexpected to have significant delays in securing these permits from Myanmar. We highly suggest budgeting one month for pre-shipping documentation services if you are able.

IT Shipping & Logistics

Unlike other locations, Myanmar has a limited amount of daily air freight options. This does not necessarily extend your door-to-datacenter timeline, it just emphasizes the need to have a shipping provider who is knowledgeable of the airlines that fly into Myanmar regularly and their flight patterns.

Once your equipment is in Myanmar and you have successfully cleared customs, you should expect 3 to 4 days for last-mile delivery.

*FGX manages all of our client’s shipments door-to-door (or door-to-data center).
