What Is Hub-and-Spoke Shipping

The term “hub-and-spoke” describes most of our competitors, but what does it mean? Just what is hub-and- spoke shipping? To understand the hub-and-spoke network, think of a bicycle wheel. Packages are collected from their respective points of origins (where the spokes meet the outer rim of the wheel), and are then transported down predetermined routes (the spokes) to a single large collection area in the heart of the network (the hub at the center of the wheel). In large networks, this process is often repeated several times, with packages stopping at intermediate hubs before finally reaching the central processing facility.
